Weekend Carryovers – May 21, 2021

by Laurie RossMay 22, 2021

Six-figure weekend carryovers were witnessed during the past few days. Let’s revisit the events from the past weekend.

Pimlico Racecourse — Record Carryover $562,931

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 has a Maryland state record jackpot carryover of $562,931. The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 60 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 40 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Owned by the Stronach Group, Pimlico will present nine races Friday, and its finale – a five-furlong turf sprint allowance for 3-year-olds and up – kicks off the weekly national Stronach 5 wager that continues with Race 9 from Gulfstream Park, Race 3 from Santa Anita, and Race 3 from Golden Gate Fields before wrapping up with Santa Anita’s Race 4.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

Penn National Super High Five Jackpot $216,841

The 20-cent Hollywood Hi 5 at Penn National has been steadily accumulating and currently stands at $216,841. Sweeping the whole pool is difficult (you have to construct a unique winning ticket), but consolation payoffs typically fall in the range of a few hundred dollars—not bad for a 20-cent bet.

The Hollywood High Five starts in Race 3, a $7,500 Maiden Claiming Event for three and four-year-old fillies at a distance of six furlongs.

Lone Star Park Pick 6 Jackpot $144,909

Pick the winners of 6 consecutive races. The 20-cent Pick 6 Jackpot at Lone Star Park in Texas pays out to 50 percent of the current day’s pool to multiple winners with the most correct. The other 50 percent will be added to the Carryover Pool.

The Carryover Jackpot will be paid out only when there is a single unique wager with 6-out-of-6 correct or on a scheduled Mandatory Payout day (May 31, 2021).

The takeout of 12% is one of the lowest in the industry.
