Take a look at my thoughts on three of these premier contests in the MLB!

Cardinals vs Blue Jays

The Cardinals and Blue Jays compete again for the last game of their two-game stand. The Cards got a terrific walk-off win last night, thanks to Paul Goldschmidt’s grand slam. The Blue Jays have now lost two straight games and are 22-20.

The Blue Jays are sending Kevin Gausman to the mound, and Jordan Hicks is pitching for the Cards. Gausman is 3-3 on the season and owns an above-average 2.52 ERA. Jordan Hicks has some nasty stuff, but his 1-3 record and a 4.21 ERA.

The Card’s bats came alive last night and won 7-3. Juan Yepez also went deep, and Brendan Donovan knocked in an RBI. Nolan Arenado also had a great night going 3-4. Goldy was the big MVP, as he went 0-4 before hitting the game-winning bomb.

The Blue Jays hitters really struggled last night against Miles Mikolas. George Springer did get a solid crack at one and hit a homer in the 6th. Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette, and Teoscar Hernandez were all hitless, so I expect them to bounce back against Hicks tonight.

This game is going to be another close one, but I like St. Louis to capture the win at home. They’ve won 4 straight and have all the momentum here. Bet on the Cards!

Braves vs Phillies

The Braves and Phillies will battle in the Big A for their second of four games. Both squads haven’t necessarily lived up to expectations thus far and are both right below .500.

The Braves starter will be Max Fried, and Phillie’s thrower is Kyle Gibson. Fried is 4-2 thus far and has a respectable ERA of 3.31. Gibson has also been okay, with a 3-2 record and 3.98 ERA to show for it.

The Phillies have now won two consecutive games after the big win over the Dodgers Sunday and the dub against Atlanta yesterday. Rhys Hoskins knocked in three runs to lead the way for Philly, and Roman Quinn also added in two runs.

The Braves had a rough night at the plate last night as they had 11 hits but just 3 runs. Ozzie Albies, Dansby Swanson, and Austin Riley all knocked in a run and had a solid night at the plate.

This game is very good, but I have to lean towards Max Fried and the Braves. Bet on Atlanta!

Padres vs Brewers

The Padres and Brewers are the game on TBS tonight, and it’ll be a good one. The Padres are now 28-14 to start the season and are 2nd in the NL West. The Brewers are 1st in the NL Central, at a 26-16 record.

Corbin Burnes will be on the bump for the Brewers, and the Padres have former AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell throwing. Burnes has a 1-2 record on the season but a really good 2.27 ERA. Snell has struggled to start the year and is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA.

The Padres are on fire recently and have rattled off 5 straight wins. They took the 3-2 win against the Brewers as the bottom of the lineup accounted for all three runs batted in. San Diego may have a difficult time competing against Burnes tonight.

The Brewers barely lost yesterday and just couldn’t hit Nick Martinez. Tyron Taylor had both of the RBIs and was the only offense for Milwaukee. Andrew McCutchen and Lorenzo Cain should be ready to hit against the lefty Snell.

The Padres aren’t favored here, but I feel like they are the better team. They are clicking on all cylinders, and I like them to win at home once again!
