Carolina Hurricanes vs. Colorado Avalanche Betting Pick and Prediction
The Carolina Hurricanes (48-19-8) face off against the Colorado Avalanche (54-14-6) in Colorado for their second game of the series Saturday night. The Hurricanes are currently having an excellent season as they sit in first place in the Metropolitan Division. Meanwhile, the Avalanche are favorites to win the President’s Trophy as the league’s top team in the regular season.
Both teams are legitimate Cup contenders, and Saturday night’s game should have a playoff game feel to it. The teams have matched up once before this season when the Hurricanes defeated the Avalanche 2-0 in Carolina.
Hurricanes Look To Bounce Back From Loss
Carolina currently sits on top of the very tight Metropolitan Division with two points more than the New York Rangers. The Hurricanes, who are 3-2 in their last five games, lost their previous game against the Detroit Red Wings. Carolina is one of the best teams in the league, but they need all the points they can get if they want to win their division.
The Hurricanes defense has by far been their greatest strength this season as they currently lead the NHL for goals against with only 180 goals in 75 games played. They also have a very solid goaltending with Frederik Andersen between the pipes who has recorded an impressive .926 save percentage this season. The Hurricanes have the best defense in the league this season and they are going to need to play very well if they want to take down the Avalanche Saturday night.
Avalanche Look To Extend Win Streak
The Colorado Avalanche are by far the hottest team in the NHL right. The Avalanche are currently on an eight game winning streak after defeating the New Jersey Devils 3-1 in Colorado on Thursday Night. Colorado sits far above every other team in the Pacific Division and with 114 points, they should win the division.
The Avalanche’s biggest strength this season has been their offense as they currently sit in second in the NHL for goals per game average with 3.8 goals. The Avalanche’s highly explosive offense is led by Mikko Rantanen who has recorded 88 points in 71 games played this season. Colorado is on fire and they need to keep putting the puck in the net if they want to defeat the Hurricanes on Saturday night.
It’s already been a historic year for Colorado sports betting.
Avalanche Will Take Down The Hurricanes, Avalanche Money Line -135
Honestly I believe this is going to be a very tight game come Saturday night, but I believe the Avalanche carry too much momentum into this game to lose. The Avalanche are on an absolute roll, and with already having a win streak of eight games, I think they will overcome the Hurricanes great defense. The Avalanche also have an extremely impressive 30-4-3 record at home this season as well.
The Colorado money line at -135 is the pick of the night for me. The other betting lines include Hurricanes money line (+115), Avalanche puckline -1.5 (+175), Hurricanes puckline 1.5 (-210), under 6 goals (-110), and over 6 goals (-110).
