Washington vs Broncos Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 8

by Tom ZwillerOctober 27, 2021
  • Teddy Bridgewater will not throw an interception in this game.
  • Neither team will rush for more than 100 yards.
  • Both Bridgewater and Taylor Heinicke will throw for at least 200 passing yards.

The Denver Broncos currently sit in fourth in the AFC West with a record of 3-4 and have a four-game losing streak. They desperately need this game to get out of their slump and get back into the AFC West race and the AFC Wildcard playoff race.

The Washington Football Team is in a similar spot, they are currently 2-5, which is good enough for second in the NFC East, but they trail the Dallas Cowboys, who are currently 5-1. The Football team hopes to go on the road where they are 1-2 to get back in the Wildcard race.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Washington vs Broncos Prediction: Spread

Against the spread, the Washington Football Team is 1-6, which is the worst in the NFL, which to me makes them a good team to bet against. The team simply does not have an offense, and that high-caliber defense from last season has seemingly vanished quickly.

The Denver Broncos are not much better against the spread; they are 3-4, just like their NFL record. However, as will be a common thread through my predictions, you need to remove the Broncos’ first three games of the season.

The Broncos played the Giants, the Jets, and the Jaguars in their first three games, in which they beat the spread each time. However, since those three games, the Broncos are 0-4 against the spread.

Because Denver is now 0-4 against the spread but is still favored, I will take the Football Team to cover.

  • Free Prediction: The Washington Football Team will cover the spread.

Washington vs Broncos Prediction: MoneyLine

This is a tricky game to pick because these two teams are both reasonably bad. Neither one is an offensive juggernaut; Lineups.com ranks Washington as 17th and Denver as 18th.

And while Lineups may see Denver as a top-5 defense in the NFL, this is inflated by those first three teams they played to start the season. Washington only outdoes them because Washington has the worst defense in the NFL.

While Denver may be overrated as a defense, they still possess a good defense, a defense I would argue is at the worst in the top half of NFL defenses. This is largely why I will give the game to Denver, though I think it may be close.

A mediocre offense against a bad defense should play like a good offense, while a mediocre against a mediocre defense should wash out.

  • Free Prediction: Washington 21 Denver 23

Washington vs Broncos Prediction: Total

Turning to total records, Washington is surprising, 4-3 against the total, which is reasonably good for a team that offensively ranks 18th in the NFL. The Broncos are 2-5 against the total and rank 20th offensively.

If you like low-scoring games, this game is for you. The Denver Broncos average 20 points per game, and the Washington Football Teams do not do much better at 20.9 ppg.

The story is a little bit different in terms of points against it. The Football Team allows 30 points per game, a mark that is last in the NFL.

The Broncos only allow 18.1 points per game which is a good mark, but in their last four games, they have averaged 25.3 against. In their first three games, they only averaged 8.7 against.

Because of how good the Broncos were in their first three games where they played teams that are a combined 4-15, it is essential to throw out stats from their first three games.

Since their first three games, the Broncos have only averaged 16 points per game and have allowed 25.3 against. The Broncos, in their first three games, are a different team than they are now: the Broncos are simply not a good team.

However, Denver gets to play a relatively poor defense in the Football Team, so I think they will score more than they have in their last four games.

  • Free Prediction: The total in Washington Denver will hit the over.
