Under the Radar NFL Week 16 Candidates to Rush for 100 Yards
It’s Christmas week in the NFL, and as you look for possible betting stocking stuffers on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, you will find a number of possible 100 yard rushers that you probably hadn’t considered.
D’Onta Foreman – Panthers
Against a Seahawks defense that is ranked 25th in Defensive Rusher Rating by the stat gurus at Cold, Hard Football Facts, D’Onta Foreman got the ball 21 times for 74 yards. And this week he plays the 31st-ranked Detroit Lions.
Carolina is not going to beat the Lions with the arm of Sam Darnold, so look for them to give the ball a lot to both Foreman and Chuba Hubbard. Foreman has gone over 100 yards four times this season, including against a good defense like the Broncos, and he’s a good bet to do it against a bad defense like the Lions.
Alvin Kamara – Saints
It’s not been a great season for Alvin Kamara, but he did show some life this past week with 91 yards on the ground against the Falcons. This week he gets the Browns, who have given up big 100-plus yard games to Austin Ekeler, Jeff Wilson, and J.K. Dobbins, just last week.
Cleveland ranks 29th in Cold, Hard Football Facts’ Defensive Rusher Rating, and Kamara is a solid bet to break 100 yards for the second time this season.
Raheem Mostert – Dolphins
The Dolphins are in desperate need of a win after taking three straight losses, and Raheem Mostert and this running game just had their way with the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills are a top-10 running defense, the Packers are in the bottom-five, and last week Mostert ran for 136 yards on 17 carries. His other 100-yard game this season also came against a good defense, as he went for 113 yards on 18 carries against the Jets.
The Packers have allowed big games to David Montgomery, Breece Hall, Tony Pollard, and Miles Sanders, and by the end of the game on Sunday you can add Mostert to that list.
James Cook – Bills (Breakout Candidate)
Buffalo rookie running back James Cook has a season-high of 86 yards, coming against the Browns in the game that was moved to Detroit. So he may not be the first name you think of this week to have a big rushing day. But you should when considering his opponent.
Cold, Hard Football Facts ranks the Bears as the worst run defense in the NFL. Chicago is 32nd in Defensive Rusher Rating, and after getting banged up against the Dolphins last week, the Bills will want to take it easy on the body of Josh Allen. That means more Cook on Saturday, and a big day for the rookie.
Everyone has to get their first 100-yard rushing game sometime. This week Cook is a great candidate to get his.
