Giants vs Panthers Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 7

by Allyson ParkOctober 22, 2021
  • Panthers defense will put the heat on Daniel Jones
  • Expect a low-scoring game
  • Keep an eye on the Giants’ IR list

In the seventh week of the NFL season, the New York Giants (1-5) host the Carolina Panthers (3-3) at MetLife Stadium, with kickoff slated for Sunday at 1pm EST.

The Giants, currently dead last in the NFC East, are aiming to get their second win of the season this week. They hope to bounce back against the Panthers after last week’s 11-38 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The Panthers, third in the NFC South, have an even record of 3-3, and they are also looking to bounce back with a win in Week 7 after losing 28-34 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Giants vs Panthers Prediction: Spread

The Carolina Panthers are currently 2.5 point favorites to win this game. While I think this will be a pretty close game, I expect the Panthers will be able to cover the spread, as the Giants have been struggling a little bit more than them this season.

  • Free Prediction: Panthers to cover the spread (-2.5)

Giants vs Panthers Prediction: MoneyLine

I’m a little bit torn on which team to pick for this game, as I think it could genuinely go either way. At the end of the day, it really depends on which team makes fewer mistakes, as both the Giants and the Panthers have been very prone to mistakes and injuries this season.

I’m picking the Panthers for this game. I don’t think the New York Giants have what it takes to get their second win of the season, even with Daniel Jones back on the field. Their offensive line held up well at first, but it has been slowly deteriorating, and they got obliterated in last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Giants are also suffering from a few key injuries, namely, Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, and Kadarius Toney. All of these players are currently questionable, and whether or not they will be able to play on Sunday will certainly impact the outcome of the game. Without these key players, the Giants will most likely struggle with scoring points and finding the red zone.

For this game, the Panthers’ biggest asset is their defense. They’ve gotten 16 sacks in their first six games, and this means trouble for Daniel Jones. The pressure will be on fast and hard.

While I think the Panthers will both win and cover the spread this week, they also have struggles of their own, namely on offense. Christian McCaffrey is still on the injured reserve list, meaning that they also might struggle with putting points on the board, so it might be a good week to bet the under.

Ultimately, I think the Giants will make more mistakes than the Panthers will on Sunday. Both these teams aren’t great, but I think the Panthers will force the Giants to mess up and in the end, cost them the win.

  • Free Prediction: Carolina Panthers -2.5

Giants vs Panthers Prediction: Total

The total for this game is currently set at 43.5. Due to some key offensive injuries in both teams’ rosters, I think that they will both struggle with scoring points in this game. I don’t expect a high-scoring game at all, so I think the under is a good bet for this Week 7 matchup.

  • Free Prediction: Under -115
