Falcons vs Saints Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 9

by Allyson ParkNovember 4, 2021
  • NFC South division rivalry game
  • Saints need a win to keep playoff hopes alive
  • Can the Falcons keep it competitive?

In the ninth week of the NFL regular season, the Atlanta Falcons (3-4) travel to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA to take on the New Orleans Saints (5-2,) with kickoff scheduled for Sunday at 1 pm EST.

In this NFC South rivalry matchup, the Falcons are hoping to bounce back after a disappointing, low-scoring 19-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Saints, on the other hand, hope to extend their three-game winning streak, as they defeated the number one team in the NFC South, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, last week.

Falcons vs Saints Prediction: Spread

I’m taking the Saints to win this Week 9 game. While I think the Falcons will keep things competitive, I think the Saints will be able to win by a touchdown, especially since they defeated the Bucs last week.

  • Free Prediction: New Orleans Saints to cover the spread (-6.5)

Falcons vs Saints Prediction: MoneyLine

Both teams have a lot on the line for this game. The struggle for the top spot in the NFC South is very close. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently in first place with a record of 6-2, the New Orleans Saints are second and 5-2, the Carolina Panthers are third and 4-4, and the Atlanta Falcons are lasy and 3-4.

If the Saints want to remain playoff contenders, every single win from this point onward matters immensely. The chances of the Falcons making the playoffs are significantly lower, but if they wish to remain competitive in their division, then this week is a must-win for them too.

I’m taking the New Orleans Saints for this Week 9 NFC South matchup. Even though Jameis Winston is out for the season with a torn ACL, third-string quarterback Trevor Siemian played well last week, helping lead the Saints to a big win against the Bucs. Alvin Kamara has also been playing well. Even though this Saints team is far from perfect, the Falcons are just not a very good team, and I think that New Orleans will take the win this week.

That being said, I think that Atlanta has enough in them to keep this game competitive, at least for a while. Matt Ryan is still a decent quarterback, and a lot of the Falcons’ games this year have been relatively close.

However, Ryan does not have enough viable target options, especially with Calvin Ridley out for the season, to pull off a win against their division rivals.

  • Free Prediction: New Orleans Saints -255

Falcons vs Saints Prediction: Total

Both these teams have been encountering some struggles, but I think that they will be able to combine for over 41.5 points. I feel like this is a pretty low total and both of these teams haven’t struggled with scoring too much. I think it’ll be a close game, so bet the over.
