Eagles vs Jets Prediction & Football Odds for NFL Preseason Week 3

by Allyson ParkAugust 25, 2021
  • Eagles are 0-2 in the NFL preseason, combining for 16 points for both games
  • Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is proving himself to be a great asset
  • Eagles struggle with scoring

In the last week of the NFL preseason, the Philadelphia Eagles travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets in a Friday night matchup. The Eagles have, not surprisingly, lost both their preseason games, the first to the Steelers 16-24 and the second to the New England Patriots, scoring 0 points to New Englands’ 35.

In a more unusual turn of events, the Jets are entering this matchup after winning both their preseason games, beating the New York Giants 12-7 in Week 1, and the Green Bay Packers 23-14 the next week.

Eagles vs Jets Prediction: Spread

The New York Jets are -4 point favorites for this game, and judging from their performances from the first and second weeks of the preseason, they will most likely be able to cover the spread. They won their first game by five points and their second by nine.

Free Prediction: New York Jets at -4

Eagles vs Jets Prediction: MoneyLine

With the Jets as four-point favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles and with star-in-the-making Zach Wilson commanding their offense, New York will most likely win this Week 3 matchup. They won their first two preseason games by decent margins on offense, thanks to Wilson, who completed 15 of 20 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in their Week 2 win against the Packers.

Speaking of Zach Wilson, he has probably been one of the standout players of this preseason, especially in the rookie quarterback category. He looks comfortable in the pocket, he knows when to step out and when to run, and he’s capable of making quick, sharp decisions that normally end in completed passes. He is also not afraid to make deep passes and is able to make those deep passes accurately and quickly. Wilson and the Jets’ offensive line will probably be a force to be reckoned with in the regular season.

On the other hand, the Eagles have been unable to gain any offensive momentum thanks to sub-par performances all around, but especially from quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Jalen Hurts. They scored a combined 16 points in this preseason so far, scoring no points at all in their Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots.

Free Prediction: New York Jets

Eagles vs Jets Prediction: Total

I personally would bet on the under for this matchup. The Eagles have had huge problems scoring this preseason, combining for only 16 points in both their games. The Jets combined for 35 points in their Week 1 and Week 2 matchups, but I do not think that the game will be 35-0 Jets. So I would bet the under for this Friday night game.

Free Prediction: Under -115
