Dolphins vs Jaguars Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 6

by Allyson ParkOctober 14, 2021
  • Tagovailoa might be back in for Week 6
  • Will the Jaguars extend their losing streak?
  • Who’s more motivated?

Time for NFL international game two! In the sixth week of the NFL season, the Miami Dolphins (1-4) and Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) face off in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. Get excited for morning football, kickoff is set for Sunday at 9:30 am EST!

The Dolphins hope to bounce back in this game against the Jaguars, as they are coming off the heels of a devastating but not surprising blowout 17-45 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their fourth straight loss of the season. On the other hand, the Jaguars are still looking to get their very first win of the season, and they are also entering this game after a bad 19-37 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Dolphins vs Jaguars Prediction: Spread

The Miami Dolphins are currently 3-point favorites against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and I fully expect them to be able to cover that spread on Sunday. I think it’ll be a close game, in fact, it might be won by a field goal. I’m taking the Dolphins for this game, and therefore I would bet them to cover the spread

Dolphins vs Jaguars Prediction: MoneyLine

I think this is going to be a relatively good, relatively close game. Both these teams are still trying to get their momentum started for the season, and I think that it could go either way.

The Dolphins have certainly faced stronger opponents than the Jaguars, and they probably don’t think they have too much to worry about, especially since Trevor Lawrence has been struggling. For the Jaguars, this is a good opportunity for them to get their first win of the season, especially since the Dolphins have, as of late, been plagued with injuries.

It was a difficult decision, but I’m going to take Miami for this game. I think that the probably return of Tua Tagovailoa will be enough to give the Dolphins the edge, and I don’t think Lawrence will be able to step up in this game, because he hasn’t been able to in the first five games of the season.

I don’t think anyone can deny that it’s already clear that Urban Meyer is not the right coach for this Jacksonville team. The entire team, but Lawrence in particular, has been struggling, with five straight losses and a franchise 20-game losing streak still in effect.

The Dolphins plan to play with their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, this week, for the first time since he suffered a rib injury back in Week 3. He returned to practice this week and the Dolphins are hopeful and confident that he will be able to play on Sunday.

This is definitely great news for them, as their second-string quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, has not exactly been phenomenal in his time as Miami’s starting quarterback, completing 103 of 158 passes and throwing four touchdowns and two interceptions in two games.

The one thing that may stop the Dolphins from winning this game is their defense. They have allowed a total of 154 points in five games, allowing 30 or more points in three games. Clearly, they have been completely incapable of slowing down their opponents.

Even though the Dolphins’ defense is a weak spot, I genuinely don’t think that Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars have what it takes to win this game, especially with Tagovailoa potentially on the field again. His presence will certainly be a game-changer for the Dolphins.

Dolphins vs Jaguars Prediction: Total

The total for this game is currently set at 47 points, and the oddsmakers are undecided on the bets for this game. I think it really could go either way, but in the end I think that both teams’ combined total will be just over 47 points.
