Buccaneers vs Eagles Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 6

by Allyson ParkOctober 12, 2021
  • Bucs look sharp, especially offensively
  • Eagles played well last week, but they can’t win against Brady
  • Expect Brady to have another huge game

In the sixth week of the NFL regular season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-1) travel to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Philadelphia Eagles (2-3.) Kickoff is slated for Thursday evening at 8:20 pm ET.

The Buccaneers, currently first in the NFC South, are entering this matchup with one embarrassing loss under their belts, but coming off the heels of Sunday’s blowout 45-17 win against the Miami Dolphins. The Eagles, on the other hand, are third in the NFC East, and they just got their first win on Sunday since Week 1, defeating the Carolina Panthers in a close 21-18 game.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Buccaneers vs Eagles Prediction: Spread

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are -6.5 favorites for this game. I fully expect the Bucs to cover the spread on Thursday. Just think about it. The Buccaneers, the defending Super Bowl champions, taking on the Eagles, who are currently third in the NFC East. There is no doubt in my mind that the Bucs will be able to win this game by a larger margin than a touchdown, so bet them to cover the spread.

Buccaneers vs Eagles Prediction: MoneyLine

I don’t think I’m surprising anybody when I say that I’m taking the Buccaneers for this game. To put it briefly and simply, the Buccaneers are a better team in virtually every way.

Weeks 3 and 4 were rough ones for the Bucs. In Week 3, the Los Angeles Rams gave them their first loss of the season in a shocking turn of events. The week after, the Buccaneers defeated the New England Patriots by a slim two points, in a game that should not have been that close.

Going into this week, I was a little bit nervous for the Bucs, as the rough couple weeks leading up to this game hinted that perhaps they could be stopped this season more than I initially thought. However, they completely destroyed the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and I think that means that the Bucs are back at the top of their game.

To say that the Buccaneers dominated Miami would be a bit of an understatement. They amassed a total of 558 yards offensively, and Tom Brady threw for over 400 yards and threw five touchdowns. Offensively, the Bucs have a lot of assets on their side, and the two that stood out the most last week were receivers Antonio Brown and Mike Evans, with both of them combining for 237 receiving yards and four scores.

The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t exactly been doing so hot this season, but they actually played well in Sunday’s game against the Panthers, their first win since Week 1. Offensively, they looked pretty sharp in the second half, with Jalen Hurts rushing for two scores and establishing great connections with his receivers. The Eagles defense also showed up big-time, forcing three interceptions out of Sam Darnold.

They managed to come from behind and win the game thanks to pure grit. It’s a short week for both of these teams, and the Eagles will certainly be riding this high going into this game against the formidable Buccaneers team.

Even though they played well against the Panthers, the Eagles ultimately don’t have what it takes to defeat the Bucs. The Carolina Panthers aren’t exactly a strong, solid team, and the Bucs are far more skilled with far more weapons. I think that the Bucs defense, in particular, will make life hard for Hurts on Thursday, but it may be a closer game then most people expect.

At the end of the day, the Eagles simply won’t win this game. They lack the ability to overcome the odds and defeat Tom Brady and the Bucs. It’ll probably be an entertaining game, but I expect Brady to have another big game and the Bucs’ defense to force Hurts to make mistakes on Thursday.

Buccaneers vs Eagles Prediction: Total

The total for this game is set at 51.5 points. I would bet the under for this game, as I think that the Eagles’ offense will struggle with scoring in this game, especially against a Buccaneers defense. I think they will make things difficult for Hurts and that finding the end zone will be hard for the Eagles. I would bet the under.

  • Free Prediction: Under -110
