Broncos vs Jaguars Prediction & Football Odds for Week 2

by Allyson ParkSeptember 17, 2021
  • In week 1, Jaguars ran the ball just 16 times
  • Denver’s defense allowed just 60 rushing yards against Giants
  • Trevor Lawrence could be the vital figure in this one

In the second week of the NFL regular season, the Denver Broncos travel to TIAA Bank Field to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kickoff is set for Sunday at 1pm EST!

The Broncos hope to make their record 2-0, as they defeated the New York Giants 27-13 in their season opener. On the other hand, the Jaguars are aiming to bounce back from their Week 1, 37-21 loss to the Houston Texans.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

  • Spread: DEN -6 (-105) | JAX +6 (-105)
  • MoneyLine: DEN (-270) | JAX (+215)
  • Total: 43.0 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)

Broncos vs Jaguars Prediction: Spread

The Denver Broncos performed very well on Sunday, led by quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. They defeated the Giants by fourteen points in their first game of the season, and while the Giants aren’t exactly a great team, the Broncos still played really well. It seems like they have found their offensive leader in Bridgewater, who threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Count on the Broncos to cover the spread this week!

Broncos vs Jaguars Prediction: MoneyLine

To be brutally honest, this game probably won’t exactly be a nail-biter. The Broncos are -270 favorites on the moneyline, and I’m going to have to agree with the people at WynnBet. Denver started out strong in their regular-season opener.

To everyone’s shock, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who’s played all over the league, seemed to work very well with the Broncos’ offense. For arguably the first time since Peyton Manning, the Broncos may have finally found a quarterback they can rely on. As mentioned before, Bridgewater threw for an impressive 264 yards and two touchdowns, and he looked extremely comfortable, cool, and collected when facing pressure in and out of the pocket.

Denver’s defense also made some notable stops, doing a decent job with creating pressure and disrupting plays. A completely healthy Broncos defense will certainly be a top-tier force to be reckoned with, and if they can keep it up, they’re going to have a good year.

Broncos vs Jaguars Trevor Lawrence

On the Jacksonville side, a lot of questions and doubts have surfaced concerning quarterback Trevor Lawrence and head coach Urban Meyer. They lost their season opener by a whopping 16 points, and Lawrence even put up a decent performance (barring three interceptions.)

This simply proves that the Jaguars can’t just rely on Lawrence to win games. Their defense allowed the Houston Texans to score 37 points and earn over 400 yards, so their problem isn’t only their offense. The concept of the Jaguars being a good team is strange, and it looks like they have a lot of work to do before that happens, even though expectations for Lawrence were high.

The Broncos are heavy favorites for this Week 2 game, as their offense seems to be working very coherently and smoothly under Bridgewater, and the Jaguars as a whole have a lot to work on. However, it will be interesting to see what adjustments Jacksonville makes, and whether or not they will be able to overcome their mistakes from last week. That being said, bet the Broncos for this Sunday afternoon matchup.

Broncos vs Jaguars Prediction: Total

The experts are conflicted on this matchup. The total for this game is 43 points, and the over/under odds are the same at -110. In my personal opinion, I would bet the over simply because I think Bridgewater and Lawrence are both capable of scoring points, as both teams scored a lot on their Week 1 games. The odds are even, but I think the over is a solid bet.
