Broncos vs Giants Predictions and Football Odds for Week 1
- Teddy Bridgewater named starter
- Saquon Barkley’s knee status?
- Rookies Kadarius Toney and Javonte Williams look to make an impact
The first week of the National Football League regular season is now here! On Sunday at 4:25 PM est. the New York Giants host the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The Broncos, who went undefeated in the preseason, look to continue that streak with recently named starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Conversely, the Giants look for their first win with Daniel Jones under center as they went 0-3 in the preseason. The Broncos will aim to win on Sunday with their newly strengthened secondary and the Giants hope to utilize Saquon Barkley, assuming the knee is healthy, to lighten the load off of their second-worst ranked defense (ESPN).

Broncos vs Giants Prediction: Spread
Though both teams will come out fighting in hopes to start their regular season off with a win, I believe the Denver Broncos are slight favorites in this game. The spread too is only -3 which they should be able to cover. The Denver defense should be able to take the Giants off the field and the Denver offense will take advantage of that.

Broncos vs Giants Prediction: Moneyline
Both teams are coming off an unimpressive year and both hope to turn the tide this year. Though this game will be close and may come down to the last seconds, the Broncos will manage to take the victory on Sunday.
The major weakness on both teams seems to be the quarterback position. Daniel Jones, third-year quarterback of the New York Giants, is coming off a 2943 yard, 11 touchdown, and 10 interception season with a 62.5% completion percentage. Jones must turn his inefficiency and turnover problems around if he hopes to lead the Giants to any success this year. Returning player Saquon Barkley, free agent Kenny Golladay, and rookie Kadarius Toney should all make a positive impact on Sunday helping Jones succeed. However, both Barkley and Golladay must be carefully watched as they are coming off significant setbacks, an ACL tear, and a hamstring injury, respectively. The biggest obstacles for Giants seem to be injury and poor quarterback play and those setbacks make it difficult to rely on them.
The Giants have not been successful in several years and this year does not seem to be a turning point. The below average secondary, offensive line, and quarterback make the Giants the weaker team in Sunday’s matchup against the Broncos.
On the other hand, the Broncos quarterback play should be significantly more impressive than the Giants. Recently beating Drew Lock out of the starting quarterback job, Teddy Bridgewater seems to be on a journey for success. Bridgewater is coming off an average season with the Carolina Panthers: 3733 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. However, this season, his surrounding cast seems much stronger. With great depth at the wide receiver position with Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, KJ Hamlet, and also a strong running back core with Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, Bridgewater is set to succeed.
The Broncos also made significant adjustments to their defense, adding rookie Patrick Surtain II, Kyle Fuller, and Ronald Darby. This should bolster more success for the Broncos as they aspire to force the Giants to turnover the ball.
Though the Broncos have their own weaknesses as well: losing running back Philip Lindsay, a weak offensive line, and average quarterback play, their strengths should be able to overcome those of the Giants. All in all, the Broncos are the more trustworthy play this weekend.

Broncos vs Giants Prediction: Total
The total for this matchup is 41.5 points, which is relatively high. I believe the Broncos secondary in combination with the weak Giants offense will not reach that 41.5 point mark. The last time these two teams met was in 2017, with the Giants beating the Broncos 23-10. However, this matchup should be different with the Broncos coming out on top. Therefore, I would bet the under for this matchup.
- Broncos vs Giants Free Prediction: Under 41.5 points
