Bills vs Dolphins Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 8

by Allyson ParkOctober 28, 2021
  • Josh Allen vs Tua Tagovailoa
  • Expect an easy win for the Bills
  • Dolphins might be able to score some points

In the eighth week of the NFL regular season, the Buffalo Bills host the Miami Dolphins at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY, with kickoff scheduled for Sunday at 1 pm EST.

These two AFC East teams are on vastly different ends of the league spectrum. The Bills are currently first place in the division, with a record of 4-2. They hope to bounce back with an easy win this week after losing in a close 34-31 game to the Tennessee Titans on Monday. The Dolphins, on the other hand, are dead last in the AFC East, with a painful 1-6 record. Their losing streak was extended on Sunday when they lost to the Atlanta Falcons 30-28.

Bills vs Dolphins Prediction: Spread

The Buffalo Bills are currently 14-point favorites for this Week 8 game. The Dolphins have lost their last six games, and I expect them to get their seventh loss this Sunday. Considering the talent of Josh Allen and his many eligible receivers, I think that the Bills will win this one comfortably and cover the spread on Sunday.

Bills vs Dolphins Prediction: MoneyLine

I really don’t think anybody will disagree with my choice to pick the Buffalo Bills for this game. They are massive 14-point favorites at home in this AFC East division rivalry matchup, and I think that they’re definitely poised to be one of the best teams in the AFC this season. The Dolphins, on the other hand, have been very disappointing and inconsistent this season, winning only one of seven games so far.

This will be the second time these two teams have played this season. In Week 2, the Bills absolutely demolished the Dolphins, winning 35-0. In that game, the Dolphins’ starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa sustained a rib injury and was forced to sit out for three weeks.

Josh Allen has been a strong leader for the Bills offense this season. In Week 6’s 31-34 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Allen threw for 353 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. His completion percentage was 74.5%. Allen also has a lot of great receivers around him, namely Stefon Diggs, who had nine receptions and a touchdown against the Titans.

The Bills have scored at least 31 points in every game except for Week 1. Their defense has also been able to make a statement this season. They have prevented two teams, the Miami Dolphins in Week 2 and the Houston Texans in Week 4 to scoring zero points.

The Bills are at an additional advantage on Sunday, as they are coming off of a bye week. They’re nice and rested going into this Week 8 division rivalry game, and I fully expect them to both win and cover the spread against Miami.

The Dolphins have been a pretty unreliable and inconsistent team this semester. Miami’s offense has been pretty stagnant, with Tagovailoa not necessarily playing poorly, just not good enough. However, their defense seems to be their biggest problem, as they are struggling with allowing opponents to score far too many points. They’ve lost six straight games after defeated the New England Patriots in Week 1. Since that game, the Dolphins haven’t been able to figure anything out, both on offense and on defense.

This will be another easy win for the Bills. Maybe it won’t be another 35-0 blowout, but I expect Josh Allen and the Bills to cruise their way to their fifth victory of the season in Week 8.

Bills vs Dolphins Prediction: Total

The total for this game is currently set at 49.5. While I think the Bills will win this one pretty comfortably, the Dolphins have been scoring a lot of points in their losing games, and they’ve lost their last two due to game-winning field goals. I would bet the over for this Week 8 AFC East game.
