Bengals vs Vikings Prediction & Football Odds for Week 1
- Joe Burrow to start for the Bengals
- Is Kirk Cousins a liability?
The first game of the 2021 NFL regular season is finally here! On Sunday, at 8pm EST, the Cincinnati Bengals host the Minnesota Vikings at Paul Brown Stadium for their first game of the season.
The Bengals went 1-2 this preseason, but they hope to get some momentum started in the regular season, particularly on the offensive side. On the other hand, the Vikings struggled significantly more in the preseason, neglecting to win a single game.

Bengals vs Vikings Prediction: Spread
This Week 1 matchup is probably going to be a decently close game, and the Vikings are currently 3-point favorites. They will most likely be able to cover the spread, as 3 points is quite a small margin to win by. I would bet the Minnesota Vikings to cover the spread.

Bengals vs Vikings Prediction: MoneyLine
This will probably be a pretty close season opener, but the Vikings will probably be the ones who will win this Week 1 game. Their offense has the potential to dominate this game, with stellar (but inconsistent) quarterback Kirk Cousins leading their offense.
However, Cousins is a part of the 7% of NFL players who are unvaccinated, making him a liability at best and a risky bet at worst. That being said, Cousins is usually a player who performs well (in numbers at least,) he threw for 35 touchdowns in 2020. Runningback Dalvin Cook and wide receiver Justin Jefferson are two other players who have put up impressive numbers last year, and who will be expected to perform well to give the Vikings the advantage.
For the Bengals, they finally get to have Joe Burrow back on the field. He will be effective from the get-go, especially against a Vikings defense that sustained multiple injuries last year. Cincinnati has playmakers on both their offense and defense, and if they can start off strong, the Vikings might not be able to bounce back.
That being said, I’m taking the Vikings to win this Week 1 game. With Kirk Cousins ready to go and with so many solid options, the Vikings will aim to start off their season strong and finally work towards winning the NFC North.

Bengals vs Vikings Prediction: Total
The predicted total for this game is 48 points according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and that is a decently high total for a Week 1 matchup. I would bet the under for this game, even though Joe Burrow and Kirk Cousins are high-scoring quarterbacks. A total of nearly 50 combined points is a little high, and I would be surprised if both teams are able to combine for more than that this game. I would bet the under.
