Bengals vs Jets Prediction & NFL Odds for Week (Week 8)

by Jacob DeanOctober 27, 2021
  • Can the Bengals sustain this early season run as they hold the top spot in the AFC
  • No Zach Wilson for the Jets but this team is headed towards a top 2 pick anyways
  • Ja’Marr Chase the easy favorite to win ROY? His game speaks for itself

The Cincinnati Bengals hit the road this weekend as they are set to square off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Bengals have been the surprise of the NFL in the early going as they are coming off consecutive wins of 20 or more points.

Last week the Bengals were winners over a division foe in the Baltimore Ravens as they handled them to a 41-17 win. This team currently sits at 5-2 and holds the top spot in the AFC standings.

It was not that long ago that the Bengals were in the same spot the Jets are currently sitting in with trying to rebuild the franchise. Luckily, the Bengals hit big on quarterback Joe Burrow and have done great putting a roster around their franchise guy.

The Jets are hoping to say the same in the next couple of years about Zach Wilson who they took at No. 2 in the draft over the summer. Tough news out of New York as the Jets are without Wilson on Sunday after he suffered a knee injury in the loss to the Patriots.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Bengals vs Jets Prediction: Spread

The Bengals have now joined the NFL as one of the premier teams in the league and it doesn’t appear they are leaving anytime soon. This team is 5-2 after blowing out the Ravens a week ago and they have put themselves on the map and right in playoff contention. Ja’Marr Chase has blossomed into a star in the league, and the defense has been surprisingly strong through 7 weeks.

On the other side, the Jets are headed in a different direction and got even worse news as they will be without their rookie quarterback on Sunday. There is not much to break down in this game and if there is, there is only so much that can be done as the Bengals are the more talented team.

Bengals vs Jets Prediction: MoneyLine

The Jet’s do have a win on the season but are currently 1-5 and have now lost two straight contests after an upset win over the Tennessee Titans. Zach Wilson is out with a sprained PCL he sustained in the Week 7 blowout to the Patriots. Mike White took over in that game and threw two interceptions. He is expected to be the starter for this contest for what will be the first of his career.

  • Free Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals -550

Bengals vs Jets Prediction: Total

The projected point total for this game at 43 seems fair as New York is dealing with some injuries to the defense. As we have seen the Bengals are very capable at putting points on the board. The total in this game will be affected by the Jets ability to put points on the board in this game.

Head coach Zac Taylor has done a terrific job building this team back up after landing Joe Burrow back in the 2020 draft. They have built a respectable team around the quarterback that has made this offense a tough one to contain every time out.

The Jets are in the early stages of their rebuild and it looks to be quite a while before this team is back to competitiveness. Injuries have played a steady role in how this team has looked but patience is going to be the key. The Jets are not going to be very competitive in this game and for many to come in the later weeks.

Prop Predictions

There are currently no prop bets out for this game but if any become available on the rookie wideout Ja’Marr Chase I would not hesitate to jump all over them. He was Burrow’s favorite target while at LSU and that is still holding true for their time together in the NFL.
