Bears vs Packers Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 6

by Allyson ParkOctober 14, 2021
  • Bears’ offense needs work
  • Will Packers be able to cover the spread?
  • Rookie vs veteran: Fields vs Rodgers

In the sixth week of the NFL season, the Chicago Bears (3-2) host their division rivals, the Green Bay Packers (4-1,) at Soldier Field, with kickoff set for Sunday at 1 pm EST.

The Bears are entering this pivotal NFC North matchup coming off the heels of a good 20-9 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Packers, on the other hand, will try to stay at the top of their division on Sunday, as they just won their fourth consecutive game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

  • Spread: CHI +5.5 (-110) | GB -5.5 (-110)
  • MoneyLine: CHI (+185) | GB (-225)
  • Total: 44.5 — Over (-105) | Under (-115)

Bears vs Packers Prediction: Spread

I fully expect the Packers to cover the spread in this game. The Bears’ offense, despite being led by the respectable Justin Fields, has not been able to gain much momentum this season, even though they’ve won their past two games. They have not really scored a lot in their games so far, and as the Packers are led by Aaron Rodgers, I think the Packers will easily be able to cover the spread for this game.

  • Free Prediction: Green Bay Packers to cover the spread (-5.5)

Bears vs Packers Prediction: MoneyLine

This is an extremely pivotal game for both these NFC North teams. With the Packers currently at the top of the division with a record of 4-1, and the Bears close second with a record of 3-2, the outcome of this game will determine which of these teams rise to the first spot in this division this week. Will the Packers further cement their reign by making their record 5-1? Or will the Bears beat them out for the first-place spot by snagging the win this week?

This is hard for me to write, but I think the Packers will take this one. I know that the Bears have played well these last few weeks, winning two straight, but their offense could use some work, and if their offense struggles to score points, this won’t be a difficult game for Green Bay.

The Bears don’t have a lot going for them in this game. Their passing offense is terrible, averaging just over 100 yards per game, and while their rushing game is slightly better, running back David Montgomery has been put on injured reserve for this game. Justin Fields might be the right quarterback for the Bears, but he’s still young and inexperienced compared to veteran Aaron Rodgers.

The one asset Chicago has on their side is their defense, especially their pass defense. In these past two weeks, they have allowed a mere 23 points. But will the Bears’ defense be enough to edge out Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? I don’t really think so, but I think they’ll be able to keep the game relatively close.

The Green Bay Packers are in a great position this week. They have not lost once since their disappointing Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints, and Aaron Rodgers is, well, Aaron Rodgers. He has led his team to four straight wins, including a couple of nailbiters. I would be shocked if Green Bay didn’t win this one.

This game will probably end up being the Packers’ offense against the Bears’ defense. I don’t think the Bears’ defense has what it takes to overtake Rodgers on Sunday, and I think that Green Bay will pull through, cover the spread, and remain atop the NFC North.

Bears vs Packers Prediction: Total

The total for this game is currently set at 44.5 points. I already mentioned the offensive struggles of the Bears. I don’t think this game will be that high-scoring, as the Bears haven’t been scoring a lot of points and I think their defense will be able to keep this game semi-competitive. I would bet the under for this game.

  • Free Prediction: Under -115
