• The Bears defense gets no sacks and struggles to pressure Brady.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off of a painfully close win over the Philadelphia Eagles and there didn’t look to be much to celebrate about. The offense looked lackluster after the first quarter and the defense continued to be woefully unimpressive given the talent they have, letting the 2-4 Eagles rack up 22 points against them.

The Chicago Bears also looked underwhelming but weren’t able to secure a win last week against the Green Bay Packers. The defense looked pretty decent, sacking Aaron Rodgers 3 times in crucial situations but the offense continued to struggle, often failing t even break into field goal range.

Bears vs Buccaneers Prediction: Spread

This spread is extreme and based on last week there is no way the Bucs cover. They only put up 28 against the overall 24th ranked defense in the league and will need to work much more efficiently to even match that against this much better Bears defense.

The Bucs also have a fairly mediocre defense, and one of the worst secondaries in the NFL which will allow for rookie QB, Justin Fields, to drive the field and get the Bears into good scoring positions.

Even though the Bears cover the spread they still lose this game. On the road, in Tampa against the reigning Super Bowl champions coming off of a loss to the Packers with nothing to really be proud of. Recipe for a bad week for Chicago fans.

Tampa has been underwhelming at times this season but they are 5-1 and have pulled through. They haven’t been Super Bowl good but they have been good enough to beat Bears level teams all year.

Bears vs Buccaneers Prediction: Total

As weird as it sounds to say, I am going to say smash the under on this one. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggled past the first quarter against the Eagles to put up points and the Bears are a much tougher defense to play. It could actually be reasonably argued the Bears are the best defense the Bucs have played all year.

According to Lienups.com, this Bears defense ranks one spot higher than the Los Angeles Rams squad which would statistically make them the Bucs biggest challenge to date. This coupled with the Bears offense being mediocre going against the Bucs’ mediocre defense should mean this is going to be a low-scoring, scrappy game.
