Bears vs 49ers Prediction & NFL Odds for Week 8

by Allyson ParkOctober 27, 2021
  • Trey Lance or Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers?
  • No end to Justin Fields’ struggles
  • It comes down to who makes more mistakes

In the eighth week of the NFL season, the Chicago Bears (3-4) host the San Francisco 49ers (2-4) at Soldier Field on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1 pm EST.

Both of these teams aren’t doing so well this season, and they desperately need wins. The Bears just lost badly to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, and the 49ers fell 30-18 to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Which team will be able to bounce back with a win in Week 8?

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

  • Spread: CHI +3.5 (-110) | SF -3.5 (-110)
  • MoneyLine: CHI (+165) | SF (-195)
  • Total: 39.5 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)

Bears vs 49ers Prediction: Spread

I expect the 49ers to be able to cover the spread for this game. Ultimately, I think the Bears will struggle a lot with scoring points, and even though the 49ers have their own offensive issues, I think they will beat Chicago by a margin of 5-7 points, covering the 3.5-point spread.

  • Free Prediction: San Francisco to cover the spread (-3.5)

Bears vs 49ers Prediction: MoneyLine

This will be a game between two struggling teams. The Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers have not been playing well this season. It will probably be a close game, but I expect the 49ers to pull off the win.

At the end of the day, this pick is more about the Bears being bad than it is about the 49ers being good, because let’s face it, neither one of these teams is good.

The Chicago Bears are currently 3-4 and third in the NFC North. Aside from an overall terrible performance this season, their offense, led by Justin Fields, has not been working well at all. Fields has been struggling with making simple passes, and his receivers’ inability to catch his balls and his offensive line’s inability to protect him have not helped at all. The Bears have not been a reliable team this season.

The 49ers aren’t doing so well either, but it seems like they’re doing a little bit better than the Bears. They have been struggling with injuries and switching up their quarterbacks, as their starter, Trey Lance, is currently out with a knee injury. Jimmy Garroppolo will probably start again this game, but Lance is recovering and it is possible that he will be able to play again soon. To be fair, the 49ers were using both Lance and Garroppolo before Lance was out with his injury.

The 49ers really need a win, as they’ve lost four games straight. The Bears’ offense won’t really be able to get anything started, so the 49ers should be able to win this one. I think it’ll be a close game, but bet the 49ers to win.

  • Free Prediction: San Francisco 49ers -195

Bears vs 49ers Prediction: Total

The total for this game is set at 39.5 points. As both these teams are dealing with significant offensive issues, I would bet the under for this game. I really don’t see this game being high-scoring on either end.

  • Free Prediction: Under -110
