Notre Dame vs USC Prediction & College Football Odds for Week (Week 8

by Jacob DeanOctober 22, 2021
  • Quarterback issues for the Irish could be downfall in this game
  • USC coming off an embarrassing loss before by week
  • Irish defense will be good enough to earn a win

The No. 13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ready to get their second half of the season underway as they are hosting the USC Trojans on Saturday evening. The Trojans are coming off a bye week but prior to their bye came away with an embarrassing loss the Utah Utes (42-26).

The Irish are coming off a win against the Va. Tech Hokies and this was a game that they almost looked like they were going to lose but a late surge helped propel the Irish to a hard-fought win. Quarterback Tyler Buchner was forced to leave the contest and Jack Coan helped lead his team back to the victory.

These two rivals finally get the chance to get back together for what should be one of the more exciting games on the day. While the Irish have struggled this season, they carry serious momentum in this game that should help push them to another win on the year.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Notre Dame vs USC Prediction: Spread

This game might be one of the most exciting rivalries in football history but the Irish will need to come out and put together four strong quarters of football because the Trojans have struggled this season and the Irish will need to take advantage of it. The Irish feature a very good defense and have one of the premier running backs in the country.

The Trojans feature some offensive talent but are even better on the defensive end. They are going to need a better performance from quarterback Kedon Slovis in this game if they want a big road win. Coming off an extra week to prepare, Marcus Freeman has had time to put together a defensive game plan for his team to potentially keep the Irish offense at bay.

Notre Dame vs USC Prediction: MoneyLine

Write a couple paragraphs about who will win this game straight up. Use some preview points to back it up. Can also talk about the best bet on the MoneyLine as well (not always the favorite).

As stated earlier, the Trojans have gotten lackluster play from their offensive leader Kedon Slovis. This team is going to need Slovis to have one of his best games of the season to avoid consecutive losses. It’s going to be a tough night, as he is facing one of the best passing defenses in the country.

The Irish have a very good defense up front led by Isaiah Foskey who is tied for 8th in the country in sacks per game. They also have 15 different players with a tackle for loss this season. The secondary is just as good as they are tied for 5th nationally in interceptions this season and 11th in takeaways. The Irish have seven different players that have come away with an interception.

Notre Dame vs USC Prediction: Total

At the end of the night, this game should be fairly back and forth and it could be as close as a one-score game at halftime. The second half should be a different story as the Irish will wear down the Trojan defense that is still trying to find its footing. The Irish pull away late in the second half and come away with a 34-17 win.
