Michigan State vs Purdue Prediction & College Football Odds for Week 10

by Ryan BurksNovember 3, 2021
  • Michigan State moves to 9-0 with another win
  • The Spartans hold on to an early lead to cover the small spread
  • Defenses take control of this game as the teams combine for less than 50 points

The Big Ten Conference is once again one of the best in the league, and there are some big games on the schedule this weekend. The Purdue Boilermakers host the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday afternoon in a very important game.

Michigan State is in the driver’s seat in the Big Ten Conference as they are a perfect 5-0 in conference play. The Spartans just upset the Michigan Wolverines last weekend, but they can’t afford a letdown this weekend.

Purdue has gone just 3-2 so far in Big Ten action, but one of those wins came against the number two ranked Iowa Hawkeyes. The Boilermakers picked up a 28-23 road win at Nebraska a week ago.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Michigan State vs Purdue Prediction: Spread

Despite being 8-0 on the year, the Michigan State Spartans aren’t getting a ton of respect in this game. Even though Purdue upset Iowa a few weeks ago, this team also has some interesting losses on their resume.

Running back Kenneth Walker has been a superstar for Michigan State this season as he has racked up nearly 1,200 rushing yards. The Spartans don’t always throw the ball well, but they are facing a Purdue team that struggles to stop the run.

Purdue is rushing for less than 80 yards per game, and that will allow Michigan State to load up the box. It’s hard to see the Boilermakers doing much scoring in this game, and that will allow the Spartans to pull ahead.

Michigan State is clearly the better team, and they win this game by a touchdown at least.

Michigan State vs Purdue Prediction: MoneyLine

Both of these teams have favorable moneyline odds, even though there is clearly more value in taking Purdue. The Boilermakers are always a tough team to beat at home, but they just have struggled at times as well.

Michigan State could be in danger of suffering a bit of a letdown in this game, but the Spartans also have one of the best players in college football on their side. The Purdue faithful will be excited for this game, but the Boilermakers just don’t have enough talent to win.

  • Free Prediction: Michigan State -150

Michigan State vs Purdue Prediction: Total

The Michigan State Spartans have won games in many different ways this season, and the defense will take control in this game. Purdue doesn’t provide much of a threat on offense, and the Spartans are going to completely shut them down.

Kenneth Walker is going to salt this game away with his running ability, and the Spartans will simply hold off Purdue on Saturday afternoon. The Purdue defense will keep Michigan State from hitting on any big plays, and the Boilermakers won’t do much scoring of their own.

This seems like a pretty safe bet to take the under 54.0 total points in this game.
