Kentucky vs LSU Prediction & College Football Odds for Week 6

by Ryan BurksOctober 8, 2021
  • This is going to be a classic SEC battle that is down to the wire
  • Kentucky will move up in the polls after another impressive win
  • Look for a defensive battle with not a lot of points being scored

The Kentucky Wildcats host the LSU Tigers on Saturday night in what should be another terrific matchup in the SEC Conference. This league once again is among the best in the country, and Kentucky is trying to be a surprise champion.

The Wildcats have stormed out to a perfect 5-0 record this season, picking up an impressive win over Florida a week ago. There are still some big games on the schedule for Kentucky and they need to find a way to protect home field.

LSU has gotten off to a 3-2 start to the year, and they were defeated by the Auburn Tigers in Week 5. This team is still one of the most talented in the country, and they are never an easy team to deal with.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

  • Total: Over/Under 51

Kentucky vs LSU Prediction: Spread

Even though Kentucky has gotten off to a 5-0 start, they are only slight betting favorites in this game. Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Wildcats a ton of respect with this spread, but there is also a recognition that LSU has the talent to win any game.

The SEC is known to deliver some terrific matchups each weekend, and this has all the potential to be one of them. Both LSU and Kentucky can really defend, and that should keep this game close throughout as well.

The home crowd is going to give Kentucky a huge boost late in the game, especially if the outcome remains in doubt. Even if the Wildcats are able to move to 6-0, don’t expect there to be much separation between the two teams at all.

If LSU is going to get 3.5-points on Saturday night then it’s a good idea to take it.

Kentucky vs LSU Prediction: MoneyLine

Since the spread is so close for this matchup on Saturday night, there isn’t a ton of separation in the moneyline odds as well. Predicting an upset at taking LSU as an underdog does offer a little bit more value, but it’s hard to see them picking up a win on the road.

This is one of those matchups that should be back-and-forth throughout, and both teams are going to be playing the field position battle. A big punt might be just as important as picking up a big first down with a crucial run.

Even though betting on LSU offers more value, the right pick in this game is taking the Kentucky Wildcats at home.

  • Free Prediction: Kentucky Wildcats -170

Kentucky vs LSU Prediction: Total

Even though both Kentucky and LSU are averaging right around 30 points per game, each team wants to win games with its defense. Kentucky is giving up less than 17 points per game, but LSU has a defense that appears to be trending in the right direction.

LSU is going to attack Kentucky through the air, but the Tigers are going to have to work to establish the run to win this game. The Wildcats are averaging 190 rushing yards per game, and they will be running the football all night long.

It might only take 24 points to win this game, and both teams should be right around the number. Don’t expect the point total to go “under” by a lot, but that seems like the safest play in this matchup.
