Clemson vs Pittsburgh Prediction & College Football Odds for Week 8

by Ryan BurksOctober 21, 2021
  • The Pittsburgh Panthers are able to pick up a huge ACC Conference win.
  • This game will be tight, but a late score will allow the home team to cover the spread.
  • Defenses dominate this matchup, keeping the final score low.

Two of the top teams in the ACC are set to collide on Saturday in what could be an ACC Championship Game preview. The Pittsburgh Panthers host the Clemson Tigers and this game will have a huge impact on the conference standings.

Clemson is having a disappointing year by their own standard, and come into this game with an overall record of just 4-2. The Tigers have won two straight games, but they already have a conference loss on their resume to NC State.

Pittsburgh is a perfect 2-0 so far in ACC action, and they have won three straight games overall. The Panthers are still looking for a signature win in conference play, but this game could provide that opportunity.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Clemson vs Pittsburgh Prediction: Spread

The spread for this game feels like it is perfectly set as this matchup could easily be decided by a field goal. Both teams have been able to get stops all year long, and that’s going to lead to a low-scoring affair.

Clemson has struggled to move the ball, and they aren’t going to find much success against Pittsburgh. It’s strange to see the Tigers as an underdog in the ACC, but there is a reason that is the case.

Pittsburgh is throwing the football for nearly 360 yards per game, and that passing attack will break through at some point. A late field goal could be the difference but look for Pittsburgh to win this game by a touchdown.

Clemson vs Pittsburgh Prediction: MoneyLine

There is plenty of value on each side of this betting line, and it’s simply best to make a bet on which team will win this game. There is a lot of similarities between the two teams, but the offensive potential for Pittsburgh is hard to ignore.

Clemson has really struggled to move the ball against some of the best teams on the schedule, and that same thing should happen in this game. The Tigers are a program that always seem to deliver, but they just don’t have the weapons to get it done.

Playing at home is going to be a huge boost for the Panthers, and that will allow them to come up with a monster win in the 4th quarter. Pittsburgh is having its best season in years, and the Panthers will pick up a huge win on Saturday afternoon.

  • Free Prediction: Pittsburgh Panthers -160

Clemson vs Pittsburgh Prediction: Total

Pittsburgh enters Week 8 averaging 48 points per game, but those numbers are skewed a bit by beating up on weaker teams. Clemson is scoring just 20.5 points per game, and the Tigers don’t want this game to turn into a shootout.

Each team has been terrific on the defensive side of the ball, and it will be those units that are able to dictate the play in this one. Field position is going to play a key role as the game moves along, and it’s going to take some long drives to score points.

24 points should be good enough to win this game, and the point total could be closer to 40 points rather than 50. It’s best to take the under in this game as there won’t be a ton of big plays made.
