Boston College vs Louisville Prediction & College Football Odds for Week 8

by Ryan BurksOctober 20, 2021
  • Louisville hangs on for crucial ACC victory at home
  • Boston College takes this game down to the wire
  • Offenses control this matchup in what turns into an offensive shootout.

A pair of teams from the ACC Atlantic Division are set to meet up on Saturday as the Louisville Cardinals host the Boston College Eagles. Both of these teams got off to a great starts to the year, but each team is currently heading in the wrong direction.

Boston College won their first four games of the season, including an impressive win over the Missouri Tigers of the SEC. Since that time, the Eagles have lost two straight games, including a blowout loss against NC State last weekend.

Louisville has also lost two straight games, but those losses have come by just four combined points. The Cardinals are now just 3-3 on the year, and they are falling out of ACC title contention.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

Boston College vs Louisville Prediction: Spread

Both teams come into Saturday averaging right around 31 points per game, and there isn’t much separation on that side of the ball. The Eagles have been a much better defensive team this season, but Louisville isn’t afraid to pick up the pace and tempo.

Boston College is holding opponents to just 329 offensive yards per game, and they are going to frustrate Louisville’s offense in this game. The Cardinals have the ability to hit on some big passing plays, and that will be a big key.

Both teams go about things in completely different ways, but that should make for a great back-and-forth affair on Saturday.

Louisville has been playing in close games all season long, and it’s hard to see this game going any different. Both of these teams are desperate to get a win and get things back on track, and Boston College will keep pressure on Louisville throughout the season.

Boston College vs Louisville Prediction: MoneyLine

Moneyline betting when it comes to college football doesn’t always provide a ton of value, but there is some in this game. Even though the Cardinals are the favorites, getting them at -240 is still a decent play.

Boston College would offer a much larger payout at +200, but it’s hard to trust an Eagles team that has now lost two straight games. The Eagles certainly have the talent to pull off this upset on the road, but they just aren’t playing their best football at this time.

Louisville has come up just short in their last two games, but they will be on the right side of this matchup, and betting them at -240 is the right bet to make.

  • Free Prediction: Louisville Cardinals -240

Boston College vs Louisville Prediction: Total

The over/under for this matchup is set at 57.0 total points, and that feels a little low when looking at the season stats for each team. Both Boston College and Louisville are averaging more than 30 points per game this season, and this could turn into a high-scoring affair.

Boston College wants to try and win this game with defense, but that just doesn’t happen against Louisville. The Cardinals have scored at least 30 points in each of their last five games, and they are going to get this game going up and down.

It might take at least 35 points to win this game, and it’s also going to be a tight contest. All of this adds up to a high-scoring affair, and the teams are going to combine for at least 57 points.
