Oklahoma vs West Virginia Betting Preview

by Asa AgnoliFebruary 13, 2021

The Oklahoma Sooners will be taking a trip to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers this Saturday. The Mountaineers (14-5) are currently on a 3 game win streak and just came off a big win against Texas Tech.

They look to keep that streak going when they face the solid Sooners (12-5), squad. The Sooners have won 6 of their last 7 games coming off a recent win against Iowa State, and have their eyes on a tournament appearance. Let’s take a look at the Oklahoma vs West Virginia betting preview.

Looking at West Virginia

West Virginia relied heavily on their defense when they took on Texas Tech in order to slow Mac McClung down. They will have to take this same approach when they take on Oklahoma.

Two impact players to watch are Miles McBride and Sean McNeil who play a dominant role in the team’s backcourt. McBride Leads the team averaging 16.2 points, 4.5 assists and,1.8 steals. McNeil averages 11.1 ppg. They combined for 46 points against Texas Tech.

McBride led the team against Texas Tech shooting 50% from the field, scoring 20 points, and going 7 for 8 from the foul line. Plan to see Mcbride put on a show in his Big 12 showdown Saturday.

On the court, for the Mountaineers we expect to see Derek Culver (F), Emmitt Matthews jr. (F), Jalen Bridges (F), Miles McBride (G), Sean McNeil (G).

Looking at Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners are going to face a challenge when they take on the strong West Virginia Mountaineers team. The Sooners are currently ranked 3rd in the Big 12 conference and have no thought of giving that spot up.

The last time these teams met the Sooners defeated the Mountaineers 75-71 on February 2nd. The Sooners are coming into the game with two tough defensive front-court players. Emmit Matthews Jr. and Derek Culver look to make big plays to help get the win.

The Sooners have surprised the Big 12 with wins against Kansas, Alabama, and Texas.

Leading the Sooners is guard Austin Reaves. He is averaging 15.8 points and 5.8 assists. Prior to the Iowa State game, Reaves had missed two games due to Covid-19.

Upon Reaves return, he scored 16 against Iowa State so expect to see his points rise above that in his matchup Saturday. He also dished 8 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds. Reaves is going to need to be an integral part of the team as they look for the win.

On the floor for the Sooners, we predict to see Kur Kuath (F), Brady Manek (F), Austin Reaves (G), Elijah Harkless (G), De’Vion Harmon (G).

The Sooners are +3.5 (-105) and the West Virginia Mountaineers are -3.5 (-105)

The Mountaineers are going to have trouble with Austin Reaves back on the court. Sooners head coach Lon Kruger knows how to handle a team like West Virginia so expect to see Oklahoma walk away with the win.
