Eastern Washington vs Kansas Prediction

Eastern Washington vs Kansas Prediction: Kansas (20-8, 12-6) ended the season so strong prior to health protocols altering their conference tournament. Since losing three out of four in January, Bill Self’s team flipped a switch late in the season. Kansas would win nine of their final eleven games, including wins over Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and a sweep of Kansas State. They may have even avenged a loss against Texas, but they were unable to compete in the Big 12 Tournament.

Kansas tends to always be one of the more balanced teams in the nation. Ochai Agbaji leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game, and he’s coming off of a season-high 26 points in the win over Oklahoma. The junior guard has hit three treys or more in four of his last five games.

KU’s combination of scoring and size gives them a chance to make a deep run this year. David McCormack has enjoyed a breakout season. He’s coming off a double-double in the not-so-easy win over UTEP. The junior forward averages 13.4 points per game, and he grabs 6.1 rebounds per game. Jalen Wilson joins him up front, and prior to the last two games, he recorded eight straight double-doubles. Wilson complimented McCormack very well, and he averages 12.1 ppg and 8.2 rpg.

The Eagles are a well-rounded bunch, and they have five players who average double figures. Junior forward Tanner Groves leads the team in scoring at 16.4 points per game, and he grabs 8.1 rpg. He’s recorded a double-double in two of his last three games, and he’s the focal point of Eastern Washington’s offense.

Swingmen Kim Aiken Jr. and Tyler Robertson surround him with versatility. Aiken Jr. scores 11.7 ppg, and he leads the team in rebounding (8.5). Robertson averages an identical 11.3 ppg, and he leads the Eagles in assists (3.1). Sophomore guard Michael Meadows scores 10.4 ppg and leads the team in three-point percentage (37.8).

Eastern Washington vs Kansas Prediction

A lot of signs point to an upset here. Aside from the desire to see one, Eastern Washington comes into this game fully capable of pulling it off. Another group of Eagles, Winthrop, was in this same position yesterday, and we advised avoiding the appealing trap. That decision may have paid off, and we’re leaning the same way today.

Bill Self, like Jay Wright, is one of the best coaches in the nation. You can trust him to prepare his team to rebound from adversity because they were stripped of a good chance to win the Big 12.

They may enter this one with a chip on their shoulder, and we’re expecting them to defeat Eastern Washington today and avoid the upset. Take the Jayhawks.

Prediction: Kansas Jayhawks to win
