New York Knicks at Miami Heat Betting Pick and Preview

Too Hot for the Knicks

Overshadowed by Super Bowl LV the Miami Heat (9-14) defeated the New York Knicks (11-14) 109-103. In a very close game until the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Knicks simply ran out of gas and didn’t have enough to keep up with the Heat.

The two teams meet again this time in South Beach to try and stay in contention in a much deeper Eastern Conference than in previous years. Read more to check out the New York Knicks at Miami Heat betting preview.

Two of the best players on each team will be matching up together in Julius Randle and Bam Adebayo. Randle is the Knick’s best player leading them in points per game with 22.7, rebounds per game with 11, and assists per game with 6.

Randle will be facing off against another dominant big man who is leading the Heat. Adebayo is a very good player and his absence was felt in the NBA Finals when he was hurt.

Adebayo leads Miami with 20.2 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game.

NBA Finals Hangover

The Miami Heat have struggled in the early parts of the 2021 season, to say the least. Yes, we are early on in the season, but the Heat currently finds themselves on the outside looking in at the playoffs and the Eastern Conference.

Miami currently sits as the 12 seed and another win against the Knicks on Tuesday can help them begin to chip away and gain ground in the East. New York currently holds the eighth seed.

It is still early for the Heat to hit the panic button, but turning the season around sooner than later is important.

Knicks Trade Smith Jr and a Pick for Derrick Rose

For the second time in his career, Derrick Rose is a New York Knick. This comes after the Knicks traded guard Dennis Smith Jr and a second-round pick for Rose. Rose brings a veteran presence to the Knicks backcourt.

Of course, the Knicks hope that Rose will be productive on the court, but Rose could also help the Knicks in a big way by mentoring R.J. Barrett. Coming into the NBA Rose was a much more explosive player driving to the basket, but something they have in common is that they were top draft picks expected to turn around franchises. It remains unclear whether Rose will be ready to go against Miami. Rose is reunited with former head coach Tom Thibodeau and forward Taj Gibson.

Are the Knicks Contenders or Pretenders?

As things stand right now the Knicks find themselves in the back end of the playoffs. With the acquisition of Derrick Rose, it is clear that the Knicks believe they are a playoff-caliber team.

For the Knicks to win games they need their young players especially R.J. Barrett to perform well and make open shots when the opportunity presents itself.

Prediction: Heat -7 or Over 208

The Heat are unquestionably the better team in this one. The absence of Goran Dragic could play a decent role in this one, but if Derrick Rose also remains out I feel that they could potentially wash each other out.

Look for some good basketball between Julius Randle and Bam Adebayo, with Tyler Herro making the difference. Take the Heat -7 and if you feel nervous about the Heat covering the spread take the over in total points as 208 is a rather low number. Check out other USA Wager betting previews here.
