Nets vs Celtics Betting Preview
Nets vs Celtics betting preview: The Brooklyn Nets will host the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of their best-of-seven first round series. The Nets comfortably punched their playoff ticket as the second seed in the Eastern Conference this season. The Celtics, on the other hand, had to fight to get here, as they had to beat the Washington Wizards in the play-in tournament to earn the seventh seed.
The Nets will have Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving all available for this game, as they all only suited up for eight games together this season.
The Celtics will be without Jaylen Brown for the entire series and beyond, as he was lost for the season due to a wrist injury.
Nets vs Celtics – ODDS
The spread for Tuesday night is -8 Nets. The over/under is slated at 227.5.
Celtics Look to Keep Momentum Going
The Celtics are coming off a huge, if not surprising, win over the Wizards in their first and only game in the play-in tournament, as Jayson Tatum went off for 50 points. Kemba Walker, who has been hobbled recently, looked good as well, finishing with 29 points on 10-of-24 shooting.
Outside of those two, though, the Celtics didn’t really get many contributions in the box score other than Tristan Thompson providing a spark with 12 points and 12 rebounds off the bench. If the Celtics hope to win this one, then they’re going to have to get more from their supporting cast.
Nets Big Three Look to Build Continuity
As previously mentioned, the Nets’ “Big Three” of Durant, Harden, and Irving have suited up for less than 10 games together this season. However, the whole one ball argument should be thrown out the window by now.
Harden has proven time and time again that he’s happy with taking less than 10 shots per game and focusing more on orchestrating the offense as a playmaker. Harden is a smart enough basketball player to pick his spots when to score, as he can drive to the rim for an easy layup and pull up at any time from behind the arc. He’s also mastered the art of drawing a foul.
Irving and Durant are the textbook definition of bucket getters. Irving can take you off the dribble and either drive or pull-up any time. He is one of four players to ever average 25+ points per game on 50/40/90 shooting splits, so good luck trying to guard him.
Durant is as efficient as they come. He can easily put up 30 points on like 13-of-15 shooting. With no clear defender to lock in on him, he’s going to have his usual big game.
Nets vs Celtics Betting Prediction: Nets Win
The Nets are too dangerous to lose to a lower seeded team like this. Even if Tatum replicates his 50 point performance, that won’t be enough to offset the Nets’ “Big Three.” Brad Stevens essentially admitted defeat before the series started anyway.
