Heat vs Sixers Betting Preview
Heat vs Sixers preview: The Philadelphia 76ers will head down to “South Beach” to take on the Miami Heat on Thursday night, as both teams will be jockeying for playoff positioning.
The Sixers currently hold a 1.5 game lead over the Brooklyn Nets for the first seed in the Eastern Conference but are coming off a shocking loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Meanwhile, the Heat have won three straight games, including back-to-back wins over the Boston Celtics. The Heat are currently in the fifth spot in the East, as they’re battling it out with the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks for the fourth seed, which would give them home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Joel Embiid missed Philadelphia’s loss to Indiana on Tuesday due to an illness, as he’s questionable for this upcoming matchup.
Heat vs Sixers – ODDS
The spread for Tuesday night is set at -1.5 Sixers. The over/under is slated at 217.5
Sixers Look to Clinch First Seed
If the Sixers win one more game, they will clinch the first seed in the East, as they hold the tiebreaker over the Nets.
If Embiid is unable to go, that will make life more difficult for the Sixers, as Embiid is very hard to defend in the post and can also make you pay if you leave him open on too many looks in the mid-range and behind the arc.
Embiid dominated with 45 points and 16 rebounds in the Sixers’ first matchup against the Heat this season, but in their last matchup, Embiid was limited to just nine points.
Tobias Harris can also make you pay if you don’t account for him, as he’s averaging nearly 20 points per game on over 50 percent shooting from the floor.
Ben Simmons can also make you pay if you leave him wide open lanes to the basket or good passing opportunities, so it’ll be important for Miami’s defense to stay alert at all times.
Heat Try to Solidify Playoff Standing
The Heat wants nothing more than to slide to the sixth seed in the East, as they would love to have home-court advantage for the first round and build momentum before taking on the Sixers, Nets, or Milwaukee Bucks later on in the playoffs.
Jimmy Butler has been playing absolutely great basketball on both ends of the court all season long, and in a pivotal battle like this, he’s going to come out absolutely determined to come away with this win, especially on his home floor.
Bam Adebayo missed the last two matchups against the Sixers, but he can definitely make life harder for Embiid down in the post, as Adebayo will body you up and hold his ground to make sure you don’t get an easy shot off.
There is just too much at stake for the Heat in this one, so they’ll come out determined to take this one. It’ll be close, though.
