New Partnership in Virtual Sports Betting Between The Kindred Group and Golden Race

by Kevin KrestJune 15, 2021

The Kindred Group and Golden Race have entered into a partnership agreement that will give Golden Race a vehicle through which they can provide their virtual sports betting offerings to markets in the United States as the list of states offering legal sports betting continues to increase. With nine brands offering a variety of gambling options,

The Kindred Group appears to be an ideal partner for Golden Race.

Golden Race’s George Voapartis, their Regional Director for North America, said:

“Kindred is a strong company that continuously grows and innovates. It is a great achievement for us to have our leading virtual sports with them.

“We are strongly focused on the US market, and this agreement will give US online players an approach to our realistic product.”

Golden Race is headquartered in Malta and offers virtual gaming, such as horse racing and soccer.

The Kindred Group and Golden Race have entered into a partnership agreement that will give Golden Race a vehicle through which they can provide their virtual sports betting offerings to markets in the United States as the list of states offering legal sports betting continues to increase.

Although the Kindred Group has yet to receive its first United States license, they are confident the partnership with Golden Race will strengthen their future position in the gambling markets of states that allow legal sports betting.

“By partnering with Golden Race to bring the excitement of virtual sports to Unibet, we continue to evolve our offering to entertain our customers,” noted Jonathan Aiwazian, Kindred’s Product Vice President in the United States. “Golden Race has proven to be an exceptional leader in the virtual sports space, and we are excited to welcome them to our platform.”

Kindred operates online gaming sites with global, local, and hyper-local brands focused on particular customer groups, allowing them to fine-tune their products to meet their customers’ unique gambling requirements.

According to the Kindred website, Unibet is their “premium all-product brand in the Group, offering all types of sports betting as well as Casino and Games, Poker and Bingo in 20 different languages across more than 100 countries”.

Sports Betting Update

This partnership between Golden Race and The Kindred Group is just the latest in a long list of agreements that have been forged since the Supreme Court of the United States struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 2018. That ruling set the stage for individual states to determine whether or not they wanted to legalize sports gambling, with 28 doing so to date.

Of those, over 20 have already implemented the practice in a variety of forms, whether it’s online, in casinos, or both. Every state has unique legislation and regulations with widely differing philosophies and strategies.

Maryland, for instance, just approved legislation that will allow for up to 60 licenses to be awarded, while other states have limited access to less than five operators. Some states allow only mobile wagering with fully remote account registration, while Illinois requires bettors to visit a retail sportsbook to be able to open an account.

The difference with what The Kindred Group and Golden Race are looking to do is that they’re planning to introduce gambling on virtual sports, which some states permit under their regulations, but which most don’t yet address. It remains to be seen if the partnership will have any influence on future legislation or amendments to currently implemented regulations.
