Michigan vs Maryland Prediction: This is an early game as Maryland at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana. The Maryland Terrapins (16-12) will be taking on the Michigan Wolverines (19-3). The two teams met on December 31st as each half was a one-sided game.

First Maryland was unstoppable from the three-point line and had the momentum going into the half down two points. Then Michigan and their bigs put a stop to the bleeding and won 84-73.

The second meeting was different as Michigan jumped up from the 16th spot to the 7th spot in the AP Top 25. This was a very one-sided game as Maryland lost by 24 points, 87-63. Now the Wolverines are ranked 4th in the country.

What to Expect

Both of these teams have conflicting preferences when it comes to shooting from the field. Maryland likes to shoot from the outside while Michigan has portrayed a balance of shots from the inside and outside.

The Wolverines have shot 48.8% from the field this season which ranked 19th in the nation and 38.6% from the three-point line which is rated 13th in the country which makes them very dangerous. Their opponents are also very respectable in that category as well.

The Terrapins are a very good team in the shooting department 45.8% from the field which is ranked number 86 in the country. They are not a team any opponent wants to leave wide open as they shoot 35.7% from behind the arc which is good for #83 in the nation.

Michigan is one of the better teams when it comes down to defensive rebounds; however, Maryland is ranked in the middle of the pact ranked 124th in the nation. Michigan is ranked #15 in cleaning up the glass in the defensive end.

Maryland is a team that’s above-average on the defensive glass, and they’ve similarly done great work curbing points via offensive putbacks, nationally ranked 35th in defensive second-chance conversion rate.

Maryland’s top scorer Eric Ayala and Aaron Wiggins are the ones to keep an eye on when Maryland needs to score if the game gets out of hand. Ayala averages 14.5 points and 1.1 steals a game, while Wiggins averages 14 points and also 1.1 steals a game.

Michigan has a lot of forwards who can score and play solid defense. Hunter Dickenson, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year averaged 14.3 points on 7.7 rebounds and shot an amazing 59.6% on the offensive end. Isaiah Livers averaged 13.7 points and shot 44.6% from the three-point range. Lastly, Franz Wagner averaged 12.9 points and shot 50.2% from the field.
