Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview
A couple of first-place NFC teams are set to lock horns in the late window of games on Sunday. The undefeated Green Bay Packers will battle the 3-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams are atop their respective divisions.
The last time the Packers started a season 4-0 was 2015 when Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals bounced them from the divisional round of the playoffs in overtime. This year’s team has higher hopes.
Tom Brady and the Bucs aren’t off to a bad start either. The 3-2 Bucs look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2007. Surely Tom Terrific can get them there, he doesn’t miss the playoffs.
Kick-off is set for 4:25 ET on Sunday and is scheduled to be broadcast on Fox.
He’s Back
Aaron Rodgers has returned to glorious form so far in this young NFL season. Whether he was just tired of hearing Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson’s names, or maybe he’s pissed off that his team, once again, didn’t draft him a first-round skill player.
He may also be upset that they chose to draft a fairly highly touted quarterback in Jordan Love. Regardless, he is completely irreplaceable. It’s difficult to find a more consistently great player than Rodgers.
Unfortunately for the Pack, they’ve been without their number one receiver in Davante Adams for much of the season. Now they’re without number two receiver Allen Lazard, who has season-ending surgery.
Adams is set to play this Sunday, and even if he doesn’t, Rodgers hasn’t minded going to his extremely skilled backfield in Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, or tight end Robert Tonyan.
Classic Matchup
This will mark the 3rd time in Tom Brady’s career that he’s found himself up against Rodgers. In those matchups, Brady is 1-1.
Not only does Brady hold an advantage over Rodgers in championships, but his QBR and Passer Rating are both up from a season ago. Still not quite Tom Brady-Esque, but up from basically his worst season in 2019.
The more games Brady plays with this offense, the more comfortable he and all his shiny new toys get. In the near future, look for an offensive outburst from the Bucs. They’ve been far too quiet for having that much talent.
Buccaneers Ground Game
If the Bucs offense can catch up to their fairly stout defense, which ranks second in yards and first downs allowed, look out NFC South. Will it all come together this weekend?
The Bucs should have a healthy, or at least mostly healthy Leonard Fournette this Sunday. Fournette could be just what the doctor ordered for the Buccaneers offense.
Not that Ronald Jones Jr has been bad, just that he’s only been steady. At this point in his career, Brady could use a back that can not only eat yards but eat some clock while he’s at it. Can you imagine this defense if they were even more well-rested?!
Tight Spread
The Packers head into the weekend as a 1 point favorite over the Bucs according to DraftKings. The total is set at 55 points. Stay away from the total with Green Bay’s semi-erratic defense in this one.
The Packers are not only 4-0 on the season, but they are also 4-0 against the spread in 2020. We like the Packers by at least a touchdown here, so the 1 point is easy to cover. Bet the Packers. Benedixium!
