LSU won the SEC West division this year, but they are coming fresh off of a loss to Texas A&M.

Georgia vs. LSU Betting Analysis

Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia has looked unbeatable in this 2022 season. There hasn’t been a team on the NCAAF schedule that has given them any problem, with their closest win being a close slip-up at Missouri.

Their key wins are dominant ones over then #11, Oregon, and then #1, Tennessee. The starting quarterback for Georgia, Stetson Bennett, has played lights-out this season. He has thrown for 3151 yards and 16 TD. To go along with their top 15 offense, the Bulldogs have a top 5 defense, according to NCAA team stats.

A trend to look at is that Georgia is 6-6 this season against the spread. But in this case, they are 3-0 against the spread when favored by 20 points or less.

The key for Georgia will be how their elite tight end duo of Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington will perform. There aren’t a lot of teams with this kind of offensive attack in college football.

LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers have had some big victories this season, but it seems to be stained by some tough losses as well. Their loss last week against Texas A&M slightly takes away from the big wins over top 10 teams like Ole Miss and Alabama.

Head coach Brian Kelly has led them to some big wins as the underdog, going 3-1 this season against the spread in that underdog role.

The issue with this team in the SEC has been facing good rushing attacks. In their two SEC losses, the LSU defense had allowed more than 200 yards rushing to both Tennessee and Texas A&M. They will have their hands full with the running back trio that Georgia will be bringing, knowing they have rushed for over 200 in 6 games this season.

The LSU Tigers’ passing game has been very efficient this season with Jayden Daniels. He has 15 TD’s and only 2 INT’s so far this year, and has ran the ball for 884 yard; which ranks him second in the FBS for quarterback rushing, according to NCAAF player stats.

Updates

No major injuries on the NCAAF injury report in the lead up to this game.

The Georgia Bulldogs have won 4 out of their last 5 games against LSU.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers Betting Preview

The LSU Tigers odds for this SEC Championship game are surprising for a game that is usually very competitive. They are 17.5 point underdogs, and are the +615 betting underdogs in the moneyline.

The over/under is set at 51.5 points, which seems like a trap from oddsmakers. Along with this point total, LSU seems like the team that could cover 17.5 points against Georgia. NCAAF point spreads are always crazy looking compared to the NFL. These large point spreads are the reason that Georgia is only 6-6 ATS this season.

One of the biggest keys to how this game will go will be the pass rush of LSU. They have two talented players in Harold Perkins and BJ Ojulari that will look to get to Stetson Bennett all game. Bennett has done some clean living in the pocket this season by only getting sacked 7 times, zero times in the last 5 games.

To reiterate, Georgia has a trio of very solid running backs and a duo of tight ends that complement that rushing attack very well with play-action. This is a weak spot in the LSU defense this season, and hopefully, Brian Kelly has schemed up a way to slow this Georgia offense down.

The offense will need to be slowed down because we know that the Georgia defense will show up. They just seem bigger, stronger, and faster than all the teams they have played this season, and it will most likely show against an LSU offense that lacks big-time weapons on the outside.

If you are making LSU vs Georgia betting picks, make sure you do your research on how these teams have looked against similar teams this season. Watch the highlights of Georgia’s game against Tennessee and watch the NCAA matchups this week of LSU-Tennessee. That will give you a lot of insight on what it is going to look like on Saturday in Atlanta.

Georgia vs. LSU Betting Predictions

As both of these teams are on top of their division in NCAAF team standings, with Georgia playing to keep their top spot in the playoff, this game should be pretty competitive for at least one half. ‘

This could be a close first-half game, with one team pulling away after halftime; or this could get ugly right away, as we have seen in some big games over the last few years.

When making LSU vs Georgia betting picks, you can’t overthink and make yourself go with an underdog just because you want to. Georgia is going to win this game.

Georgia is going to be too much with their rushing attack and play-action passing game off of that. LSU is going to have troubles matching this stacked Bulldogs roster shot for shot all game.

Stetson Bennett is so smooth while running that offense and has played with so much confidence this season. I think this has the chance to be a blowout right from the first quarter if Brian Kelly doesn’t have the LSU Tigers ready to play at the start.
