On Monday night it’s an AL Central battle between the top and the bottom as the Chicago White Sox head to Minnesota to line up opposite the Minnesota Twins. In this White Sox at Twins preview, we’re going to make sure you have ALL the details before heading to your favorite sportsbook.
The White Sox head into Monday night as the hottest team in the Central division at 6-4 in their last 10 games. They have a stronghold on the division at 66-46, 10.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Cleveland Indians.
Minnesota isn’t much worse over their last 10 at 5-5, but sit dead last in the AL Central, 18 games behind the ChiSox. After the Twins unloaded at the deadline, the 2021 season becomes a matter of pride and letting the youngsters play.

White Sox at Twins Preview
Chicago is trotting out one of their best arms for the opening matchup of the series. The Sox are coming off a sweep of their crosstown rival Cubs, as they took the third game of the series 9-3 on Sunday.
This year’s White Sox are a prime example of what you can do with a lineup of guys that pretty much all have an OPS+ of over 100, which is league average.
No one on the White Sox has offensive numbers that will blow you away. In fact, the only player they have with an OPS of over .800 is Yasmani Grandal who is currently on the IL. However, every hitter seems to be just above average.
Throw in some timely hitting, good fielding, and the MLB lead in strikeouts per 9, and you’ve got a 66-46 team with a 9.1% chance to make the World Series this season (according to Baseball-Reference).
The Twins really threw us for a loop this season. A team that everyone, including themselves, thought would be contenders. Instead, they ended up sellers at the deadline, and are nearly 20 games behind the division lead.
Their starter tonight, Beau Burrows, has only pitched 9 innings this season and is making his first start. The 24-year-old has a -0.3 WAR on the season. Not exactly what the Twins thought they were getting when they grabbed the former 1st round pick from the Detroit Tigers.
That being said, maybe this transition to starter is what finally gets this young man going. After losing Jose Berrios, the Twins are in need of a solid young starter that they could use in the near future.
White Sox at Twins Pick
DraftKings Sportsbook has the White Sox favored by a run and a half at -125, and -195 on the moneyline. The run total is high in this one, as the Sox have been able to pour the offense on this season and will be facing a pitcher with an ERA over 10.
While the odds on the Twins may look attractive, they are worthless if the Twins are unable to keep it close. Unfortunately for the Twins, we don’t believe they will be able to keep it close. They are the worst team in the MLB at covering the run line.
Lucas Giolito will prove to be too much for the Twins mediocre, post-deadline lineup. Look for the White Sox to pour it on in this one, as well as Gio continuing his great season. We’re taking the Sox by (-1.5), if you like money, you should too.
