Big Boxing Bets You Need to Know About
USA Wager readers were rewarded this past weekend as our pick Luis “Cuba” Arias pulled off the upset paying his supporters +600. The action keeps rolling this week as the boxing world takes us to Las Vegas, UK, Australia and the boxing circus that is Miami, Florida. What a week of fights, let’s get started!

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Las Vegas
Jose Pedraza (+162) vs Julian Rodriguez (-225)
Both fighters are coming off two consecutives wins fighting in The Bubble, MGM Grand, Las Vegas. This is a big step up for Julian Rodriguez (21-0) as he takes on two-division world champion Jose “Sniper” Pedraza (28-3). This should be a great fight and you’re going to have to flip a coin to pick a winner. I see this fight going the distance as each fighter’s attributes play into each other.
Shakur Stevenson (-5000) vs Jeremiah Nakathila (+1000)
One of boxing’s top prospects and potential superstars Shakur Stevenson (15-0) takes on hard-hitting Jeremiah Nakathila (21-1), with the winner getting a shot at the WBO super featherweight title later this year.
Nakathila has some attributes to make this a tough fight. He is tall, hits hard and fights awkwardly but has trouble fighting backwards and fighting on the inside.
These weaknesses should be enough for the skilled Olympic silver medalist Stevenson to pressure Nakathila and get inside where he has been much improved as of late. Expect Stevenson to be patient for a knockout to come. Prediction Stevenson by Decision.
Saturday, June 12 2021
Eagles Community Arena, Newcastle
April Hunter (-10000) vs Klaudia Vigh (+1400)
Easy win for April Hunter (3-0) as she looks to make quick work of Klaudia Vigh (3-27-1) who has been knocked out 12 times in her career.
Joe Laws (-600) vs Nestor Maradiaga (+350)
Joe Laws (9-1) looked horrible in his last outing getting dropped multiple times by body shots before getting knocked out in the 3rd round. He takes a dip in competition here looking to rebound.
Solomon Dacres (-10000) vs Alvaro Terrero (+1400)
Prospect Soloman Dacres (1-0) looks to pad his record when he takes on Alvaro Terrero (5-11-2). Dacres has expressed he is looking for a knockout but wasn’t able to show much punching power in his debut. This fight is scheduled for 6 rounds which should help Dacres get the KO finish he desires.
Ellie Scotney (-5000) vs Vanesa Caballero (+1000)
Easy work for prospect Ellie Scotney (2-0) the former 2017 amateur boxing ABA Champion.
Thomas Patrick Ward (-2000) vs Edy Valencia Mercado (+750)
Both fighters lack knockout power, which will likely end in a Ward victory by decision in his hometown.
Lewis Ritson (-250) vs Jeremias Nicolas Ponce (+175)
Great fight scheduled as part of the IBF Super Lightweight World Title Final Eliminator. Lewis Ritson (21-1) looked flat in his last win and said he missed having fans in the arena. Fans return for this event and I believe they help the UK fighter defeat Argentinian Jeremias Ponce(27-0). This is a Fight of the Night candidate.

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida
Depending on what age bracket you’re in or how bored you have been during COVID-19 lockdowns you may or may not know any of the following individuals fighting on this card. These “fighters” have limited to no boxing experience and this will be a Rough N’ Rowdy type circus event.
This may not be the best boxing product you’re going to see but it will be fun nevertheless. Expect the defense to be sloppy and the haymakers to bring some “memeable” knockouts. No Sportsbooks have posted betting odds because no one has a clue what will happen. A few friendly wagers amongst friends is sure to bring a few laughs over the night if you’re tuning in.

International Convention Centre, Sydney
Paul Gallen (+500) vs Justis Huni (-834)
Former National Rugby League star Paul Gallen (11-0-1) takes on Justis Huni (4-0) in an Australian heavyweight showdown. Gallen is a huge name in Australian sports and carries a win over UFC legend Mark Hunt in their 2020 boxing match.
Hunt is seen as the prodigy of Australian boxing, as he heads to the Tokyo Olympic games after this fight. Hunt is younger and more technically sound as a boxer which makes it hard for me to find a way Gallen gets the job done. Gallen will have a good showing and is a tough prizefighter but is mainly here to bring some light to Huni’s name prior to the Olympic games. My prediction is Huni by TKO.
