I came up with the idea for this article because of Shane Battier. If you look at his all of his averages, he had career-highs across the board during his first season with the Grizzlies. After that, he was primarily a role-player.
Battier put up career-highs in: Minutes played (39.7 per game), field-goal attempts (12.3), points per game (14.3), rebounds per game (5.4) and steals per game (1.6). He was a big part of Memphis’ identity. He went on to an impressive career, but statistically speaking, rookie Battier was the best version.
Given that so many other players across all sports have dominated as rookie and then fallen off, it’s worth a look into some of [...]
When you think of Like Mike, you think of your childhood. The movie came out when I was seven years old, and was instantly one of my favorite films. Not just in the basketball category. The same was probably true for most of you reading this article right now. We saw so many great NBA players in the movie, and became aware that they can all act. Lil Bow Wow was throwing down alley-oop dunks at Staples Center. And we had the great Eugene Levy in there too. What was not to like? When anybody asks me to rank my favorite basketball movies, there are always two that come to mind. One is Space Jam, and then obviously Like Mike.

In the first three days of free agency this year, 77(!) players signed contracts. That’s truly wild, and it basically means that there was basically news every hour on the hour. With all of this happening, we see teams that are projected to compete for the title trying to add solid veterans.
There are four players in that category that have been the league for 7+ years and not reached the conference finals more than once. When the chance to compete for an NBA [...]
As a Cavs fan, you won’t get many tweets from Woj about your team. So, when any current Cavalier shows up in one of his updates, you brace yourself for what you’re going to read. Sadly, we got some news on Saturday that a long-tenured Cav was on his way out.
Tristan Thompson inked a 2-year, $19 million deal with the Celtics. This ends his run in Cleveland, which lasted 3,340 days (per a tweet from @BraydenBallin). For 3,339 nights, we went to sleep knowing that TT was a Cav.
It was a great run for him in The Land. He helped the team win a title. He was a great teammate. And he was a fan favorite. And now, he’s gone. It’s only right that he gets a proper sendoff [...]
